During the mid November 2019, a "strange" visitor has visited Son Tra peninsular (Da Nang), the records including Brambling (Fringilla montifringilla) which is considered as a vagrant only in the West Tonkin. The presence of this bird has attracted many bird photographers in Vietnam visiting the site to find it. In additional, a rare seen nocturnal species Eurasian Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) has photographed also in Son Tra. At Cuc Phuong national park, we also recorded the global vulnerable Wood Snipe (Gallinago nemoricola) which its range only known wintering to the West Tonkin. Ngày 17 tháng 8 năm 2018, ít nhất một cá thể Già đẫy lớn (Leptotilos dubius) được quan sát tại VQG Tràm Chim do nhóm cán bộ Phòng Bảo tồn đa dạng sinh học của Vườn đi khảo sát. Thông tin rất đáng mừng cho sự hiện diện của loài này cũng như viêc bảo tồn các loài chim ở Việt Nam.

In March 2018, the new book for conservationists and bird-lovers has been printed entitled "Field guide to the waterbirds of ASEAN". The guide highlights 342 waterbirds species found in Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam & adjacent territories. Book project has done by collaboration of ten leading ornithologists from ASEAN member states and scientists from Korean, Hong Kong with an artist from Japan which funded by AEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund

The new species to Vietnam Wallcreeper (Tichodroma muraria) has been recorded in November, 2017
